The most recent thunderstorm rolled through the downtown Rochester area on June 23, 2010 at about 12:00pm. No damage from this storm. Stay tuned for Round Two later today.

Rochester Police Department Hosts Open House

On Saturday, June 26, 2010 the Rochester Police Department will hold an open house for kids of all ages! Chief Steve Schettenhelm says that the third annual open house will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm.

The chief says that those attending can participate in the following activities:

Station tours
Evidence collection demonstrations
Firearms displays
Child safety seat demonstrations
Bike rodeo
Bike inspections courtesy of the Rochester Bike Shop

Other highlights of the day will included free toddler and youth sized bike helmets for those that are in need of them.

In addition, a paper shredding truck will be on site during the day for folks to drop off personal papers and documents that need to be securely destroyed. This service will help everyone cut down on identity theft that occurs when these papers fall into the wrong hands.

Tienken Road Closed at the Tienken Bridge Starting June 21, 2010

The City of Rochester has announced that Tienken Road will be closed soon and throughout the summer:

Tienken Road will be closed at the Tienken Bridge over Stoney Creek beginning 6:30 am, Monday, June 21, 2010 through September 6, 2010.
